The playground stood empty beneath the grey afternoon sky. A swing moved slowly backwards and forwards, although there was no one there to push it. Rainwater filled the hollows beneath the climbing frame, and a forgotten red coat hung from the fence. Beyond the gates, traffic rushed past as if the playground did not exist.
